Hello chaps. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could look into the future and see what God has in store for mankind? Well, thanks to these talented concept artists, we can, and we know it’s going to be just marvelous. There will be rocket ships to the moon, unlimited supplies of smokeless energy, and the world will be run by three pillars of civilization; the American Government, the British Empire and the glorious German Reich. (Sorry Russia, looks like you just missed out!)

In this future golden age, hard-working white folks will have many fantastic means of transportation at their disposal. Let’s take a look at some of them now.

Who needs trams when this futuristic vehicle can carry twice as many passengers and go off the rails! This long, articulated road carriage will change the way we think about public transport forever. The design features a sky dome, allowing passengers to marvel at the futuristic architecture of the city, and a minibar serving champagne and fine cigars. A taste of everyday luxury for the working-class commuter!

The buses and trams of the future might not be restricted to the roads. This illustration suggests that by the year 1973 flying trams might take to the sky! If you think that’s crazy, look closely and you’ll see that there’s a woman at the wheel!

If public transport isn’t for you, the gentleman of leisure can tour the countryside in this marvelous flying automobile. Vehicles of this type could be in use as early as the 1950′s. If you live to see it, you’ll never be late for a business meeting again.

Families will be able to enjoy the comfort and convenience of airborne personal transport too. This futuristic flying boat car can travel on the road, at sea or in the air, making the transition at the flick of a switch. Perfect for those weekend breaks by the sea.

Of course, gas stations will have to adapt to meet the growing need for aviation fuel. This futuristic gas station also doubles as a drug store!

In the future, even the mail will be delivered by air. This concept for a mail-carrying airplane can take off and land vertically.

If you’d much rather stay on the ground, this automatic automobile drives itself, meaning you can give your chauffeur a nice long vacation. There’s no need to keep your eyes on the road; you can even play card games as you drive.

The increasing number of motorists taking to the road will mean that wider roads will have to be constructed. Here we see an imported German concept known as the autobahn, which has as many as six lanes for motorists to use. Clear roads free of horses and manure mean that speeds of up to 60 miles per hour could be reached.

Constructing this new road network won’t be easy, but a new generation of Irish navigational engineers are up to the challenge. They may even get some new toys to play with themselves.

Travelling by car in the future is all about luxury. Sit back, smoke a pipe and relax in the fresh air as your chauffeur drives you to the country club.

Even ocean-going vessels are likely to undergo a design revolution. I’ll bet you’ve never seen a paddle-steamer like this one before. This design marvel uses a hydrogen balloon to stay afloat, and could cross the Atlantic in as little as 15 hours!

So, the vehicles of the future are likely to be marvelous inventions, but still, there’s no accounting for taste…
